Accompanying people on their journey
Sometimes it's the people who accompany us on our journey that shape us the most. That's why I'm delighted to be able to support others as a mentor at MentorMe. #Mentoring is a common theme that has been present throughout my professional life.
In my first job after graduating, every newcomer had a mentor. I remember how valuable it was to have someone by your side who encouraged you to believe in yourself and think outside the box. And with whom I could discuss things that mattered to me in a completely confidential conversation.
A few years later, as Head of Talent Management, I carried this experience forward and launched a mentoring program for women. It was great to see how new connections were made through this program and how the participants benefited from each other.
As a member of the Inspiring Network e.V., I took on the role of mentor myself for the first time. And now I'm looking forward to becoming active as a MentorMe mentor and contributing all my experience and coaching expertise.
What do I particularly appreciate about mentoring? I learn at least as much from my mentees as they do from me. Their fresh view of the (working) world opens up new perspectives for me too. And mentoring reminds me how important it is to remain open and curious.
And you? Which people have inspired you along the way?
